A runaway hit from Fortnight – The Mira Slip
Fortnight has always been a personal favorite of mine. I’ve worn their Angie bralet practically into dust and I’m still wearing it. Yup, I love it that much. God help me when it actually wears out.
So I’m pretty excited to see that our customers have responded so amazingly well to the Mira Slip. The cups are similar to the Angie, supportive and opaque while the body is a mix of nylon and lace that highlights all the parts we generally want to highlight.
It’s sexy and feminine and sophisticated all at once.
Perfect for a holiday wishlist.
Jessica Chastain for British GQ…
I love the subtlety of this lingerie shoot. Often styled shoots can feel contrived or too high fashion leaving me feeling totally disconnected from the lingerie. Feelings of “I’m not skinny enough, tan enough, booby enough” run through my head leaving me uninspired and even discouraged.
But not so here.
The bralets and the simple silk robe, plus some red lips and sexy hair (easy enough right?), paint an accessible picture instead of some unattainable “ideal”. I think she looks drop dead gorgeous but in an every-woman sort of way.
What do you think of her simple lingerie looks?

Election Day!
Today I have butterflies in my stomach. It’s a feeling I’m getting used to on election days: a mix of excitement about having the right to make a choice about how our country is run… and a little bit of fear about how things will turn out. No matter who you choose to vote for, the important thing is to take the opportunity to exercise this civil liberty! So get out to that voting booth!!!
To bring some humor about elections and nostalgia of elections past… Here are some favorite elections scenes from TV shows and movies:
Sean Penn as Harvey Milk recruiting voters in Milk (2008). What a great line to get people to register: “Hey! I like the way those pants fit!” That would get me right in line… But no matter how well your pants fit, I guess you have look like Sean Penn to be able to pull of the Canadian Tuxedo…
A truly “inspired” class president speech in Election (1999) : “So vote for me because I don’t even want to go to college. And I don’t care. As as president, I won’t do anything.”
And who can think class president election without thinking of Napoleon Dynamite’s epic dance??? Pedro’s message is short and sweet: “If you vote for me, all your wildest dreams will come true.”
Cutty taking his morning run on mayoral election day in B-more on the Wire Season 4 Episode 6…
Pappy O’Daniel and his cronies discussing strategies for winning the election for governor in O Brother Where Art Thou (2000). Could they possibly wear their pants any higher?
And the classic Citizen Kane (1941) election speech…
Last, for a bit of nostalgia over Obama’s victory in 2004. Barack and Michelle’s first dance at the inauguration ball. Makes me tear up. every. single. time.
HAPPY VOTING!

Ari & the Forty Winks gals
If I stopped by the Forty Winks Summer Sale…
I would go crazy with silk robes from La Fee Verte and Ari Dein.
I’d buy me some meant-to-be-seen neon from Mimi Holliday
I’d pick up a basic, wireless, and ohhhh so comfortable black bra from Fortnight.
And then maybe I’d buy something brand spankin’ new…like the new colorway in the Marlies Dekkers Dame de Paris balcony bra.
Maison Close covers ELLE.
Katie looking lovely in the Maison Close Rue des Demoiselles bra.
Congrats to our friends at the company (such sweethearts!).
