Despite the inexplicable green tones of this picture, I thought I’d share this incredible shot of Meredith LINT ROLLING Osae. I love them both.
We are thrilled to have been written up in Body Magazine!
On warm days like this, I’m reminded that Summer is right around the corner. I’m loving our selection of brightly colored bathing suits, beach cover ups and woven totes. Forty Winks doesn’t just sell underwear!
Dresses like the one below are by beachwear experts HaleBob Cabana. They translate seamlessly from a beach cover-up to the perfect dress for a balmy night beach party…
…they make some pretty cute bathing suits too!
Looking for a cover up you can get sandy? These Nusantara Kaftans are available in several fabrics and sell for $32!
Similarly, this pretty little Nusantara dress sells for $42!
Rounding out our day at the beach, are totes from CatStudio through their relationship with Sabala, a non-profit society in India that supports economically challenged woman in learning skills that enable them to make a livable wage. Not only is this bag perfect for the beach, you can feel good about empowering woman around the world.
And, to make it even better, there’s a drawstring closure so all your personals stay put!
Rachel Zoe’s must have strapless bra is ours as well!
The Cosabella Papillon Strapless Bra in nude (or black) is the perfect bra the upcoming summer months!! Its balconette-style shape is perfect for low cut shirts and dresses. We have the black in stock now and will be receiving it in nude soon!
When I first moved to Boston years ago, one of my favorite things to read was Daily Candy. I was new to the big city and looking for things to keep me happily occupied. Daily Candy quenched my thirst for excitement more than once and I lived for their cutesy and informative email blasts every day.
In the hectic midst of opening the store last week, we were beyond delighted when the sweet ladies at Daily Candy decided to include Forty Winks in their Weekend Guide! We can’t wait to get the Daily Candy readers into some Spring lingerie!
And personally, I’m happily imagining some bright eyed new Bostonians, reading their Daily Candy right now and excitedly planning a trip to Forty Winks. That’s exactly what I would have done.
At Forty Winks, we believe that its not about being sexy because others say you should be, its about being sexy for you and for whomever else you deem worthy!
We’re loving how this article in this week’s Crimson Magazine highlights our philosophies on lingerie.
Not only is the LeMystere Isabella All Over Lace Bra the perfect every day bra (in fact I’m wearing it now), it is seriously pretty.
So pretty that one of the Dancing With the Stars dancers wore it, and only it, on last nights episode. I’m just glad it wasn’t on Kate Gosselin!
When Meredith and I started working on Forty Winks over a year ago, we never thought our opening day would come so fast. We are so grateful to everyone for supporting us throughout all the pleasure and pain of opening a business.
Thank you to our wonderful boutique families at Mint Julep and Crush, Sarah and Del of delmarsenties.com for EVERYTHING, our contractor Doug and his team, Mary from upstairs for the sign, our patient boyfriends Choya and Scott, Hilary our first employee (!) and our parents who continue to provide us with the love and support we need to grow this business.
With so much love and gratitude.
Rachel and Meredith
Read what Mary Green has to say on recycling the silk scraps from her gorgeous pieces to make into beautiful, reworked thongs.
“Centuries ago silk was so valuable that quantities of it, even in the form of draperies, were left to family and valued friends in a person’s will!! I believe it was equated with gold. I wonder if that is what the Chinese factories that I have visited over time had in mind in keeping so many remnants and end bolts of silk. Someone there told me it was their “bank account.” Except I noted over the years that mostly it just stayed there. And here we were printing more of it. So I thought that it would be a wonderful thing to offer to buy much of these small pieces (and leftover, already dyed elastic) and make them into panties. Some pieces are as small as one meter. We, together, devised a method of hand cutting each panty and have tried to assure that each one is different – and the wilder the better – by assuring that we have at least 4 prints or colors in each one. And so the birth of our new eco-panty came about. I feel that each panty is a one of a kind jewel and a testament to my passion for sustainable enterprise.
